After the immense success of Pro Prep x Big Air’s Football Academy, co-founders DJ Lalama and Andrew Harris are pleased to announce phase two, starting on May 17. All five weeks of sessions will take place at St. Vital Mustangs Field, and are available for anyone in the U14 age group all the way to 18-plus. Practices will build off of the skills learned from the last academy, while adding in film study, speed sessions, joga sessions, and more to enhance the 360-degree athlete experience.
Close to 30 diverse coaches from across the province will be involved in phase two of the Academy. They will be separated into two full coaching staffs (one for U18 and 18+ and one for U14/U16), and there will be on-site therapists and Pro Prep Academy Sport doctors will be available.
“We are very excited to be launching Football Academy 2.0,” said Lalama. “We have experienced great feedback from our first academy, and are very fortunate to be working alongside some great people, educators, coaches and players, that all have the same passion, vision and goal – to create a one-of-a-kind opportunity and experience for football playing student-athletes in the Province of Manitoba.”
“Having four distinct age groups under one umbrella allows for cohesion, progression and nurturing in all areas of development,” added Harris.
“Our staff is comprised of the very best this province has to offer; from the University of Manitoba Bisons coaches and players, Winnipeg Rifles coaches and players, current CFL pros, and representation from over a dozen WHSFL programs. Skill development will be a priority and this is a can’t miss opportunity to develop your skills.”
All sessions will be filmed and pushed to Pro Prep’s HUDL account, where coaches will create cutups and playbooks for athletes. All athletes will have access to the practice film captured over the duration of the camp.
Every participant will also receive a free t-shirt, unlimited free academic tutoring sessions and discounted rates for nutrition, strength and conditioning and sport psych services.
